What is Integrative Nutrition?

Integrative Nutrition focuses on the entire body & the surroundings in which one lives in to clarify root causes of aliments or unbalance and to then implement methods to prevent illness or disease.  By using an integrative approach to optimal health, we strive to re-introduce balance into the physical, psychological and spiritual body that encourages healing through nutrition and lifestyle choices.

Western vs. Integrative Health Services

Western medicine's focus tends to be on treating symptoms with drugs and/or surgery.

This is largely a reactive method whereas in an integrative approach, the focus is on identifying root causes of the symptoms and introducing programs that help individuals modify their diet and lifestyle which in turn brings about healing, and builds stronger resistance to future illness.

Clearly, modern medicine has demonstrated an ability to improve the lives of very seriously ill individuals but to date, for the majority of people suffering from common illness such as type 2 diabetes, overweight, fatigue, joint pain, allergies and so on, there has been little success.  Many of the medicines that are being prescribed today are simply suppressing the symptoms rather than healing underlying causes.  While these symptoms are left unresolved, an alarming number of people are discovering more serious diseases including type 2 diabetes, chronic fatigue and cardiovascular disease.

Why are more people choosing an integrative approach to wellness?

This brings to light another important element of achieving proper wellness which is accountability and personal responsibility.

Individuals seeking out a holistic approach do so for 3 primary reasons:

  1. They embrace personal responsibility as essential for their good health

  2. They no longer wish to live with and suppress recurring symptoms

  3. They have had not experienced lasting success  with western treatments

Within Eat Well Feel Well, there is a relationship built on trust between a client and their integrative nutritionist that is both cooperative and complimentary.
